H.E.P. Motorsports Puts Forth Impressive Ride at Round 15

H.E.P. Motorsports had a productive 15th round this past Sunday with only two rounds to go in the 2020 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series in Salt Lake City, Utah. Adam Enticknap got a season-best in his heat race running as high as third place, followed by an 18th place overall in the 450cc premiere main event. Ryan Breece continued to fight through altitude sickness and was able to finish in 20th place overall. Kyle Cunningham had a rough night, coming together with a teammate in the heat causing an injury to his toe. Unfortunately, Cunningham missed the main event but is expected to be ready Wednesday.

Showing consistent practice starts throughout the week, the fan-favorite “Seven-Deuce-Deuce”  had one goal of getting a career start. In his heat race, Enticknap did just that by coming around the first turn in fourth place. As he continued to push himself, passing his competition for third, he ultimately finished in ninth place for a direct transfer position into the main. Enticknap continued improving throughout the night and ended up 18th place.

“My main focus all day was to get a good start,” said Enticknap. “In the heat race, I got a fourth place start and passed Chad Reed on the first lap for third. That was a big personal goal for me. Transferring out of the heat is something I wanted more than anything. The main event had some progress, but I still have a lot of building to do.”

Ryan Breece (#71) finishes 20th overall in the 450cc premiere main event.

Battling altitude sickness throughout the past four rounds in Salt Lake City has made it very difficult for Breece but he continues to fight through it. In his heat race, Breece got a good start but was unable to climb into a transfer position, missing the main by two positions. In the LCQ, Breece got another strong start and was able to come away with third place. In the main, he fought-hard to finish in 20th place overall.

“Making it in the main event and placing 20th has been a highlight in SLC,” said Breece.

Kyle Cunningham (#44) qualifies inside the top 20 during the 450cc qualifying.

It was rough day for the seasoned veteran, Cunningham. In his heat race, Cunningham got out to a good start and was fighting for a transfer position before coming together with another teammate and going down, finishing in 13th place. In the LCQ, things did not get much better when he found himself caught in a first turn pile up which ultimately ended his night. Cunningham suffered a tear in his toe, which required stitches, but is eager to recover for Wednesday’s race.

“This past round was a tough one for me,” said Cunningham. “I felt really good all day on the bike but the evening didn’t go as planned. I passed for a qualifying position halfway through the heat but I got cleaned out. In the LCQ, I got a decent jump but unfortunately got caught in a first turn pile up and somehow split my toe. After some stitches and swelling, I’m doing everything I can to be ready for Wednesday.”

“I’m excited for the final two rounds so everyone can see the team’s hard work and effort pay off,” said Dustin Pipes, Team Manager. “The altitude in Salt Lake City has proved to be an interesting factor for the team, but we found some settings we like and a hopeful solution to Ryan’s sickness.”

H.E.P. Motorsports looks to finish out the remaining two rounds of the 2020 Monster Energy AMA Supercross series with a bang. Expect to see Cunningham back in the main event with his teammates, Breece and Enticknap.
