Despite some bruises and ligament damage to his right ankle Hartranft was deemed fit to ride after a visit to the medics. Marshal went down hard during qualifying resulting in black eye and bruised knee. Weltin fought through the pain in both motos and rode great to 12-11 moto finishes for 11th overall.
Brandon Hartranft #41: Rough day racing for Hartranft who turned 24 years old Friday before the race. Crashing in the first corner off the start moto one, Brandon was banged up bad and forced to pull off in order to be ready for moto 2. He was able to salvage an 18th place moto finish resulting in 21st overall for the day.
“Wasn’t the best round for me, honestly thought today was going to be a good day for me and the team. I had an ok start in the first moto, but I ended up being in a pile up and ran over by a couple people. I tweaked my ankle a little bit I had to pull off moto one and get ready for moto two. I wanted to score some points, I finished 18th moto two. I didn’t ride well but I wanted to score some points. I’m happy we are healthy, and we have a two-week break, we have to keep working and end on a good note these last few rounds.”
Marshal Weltin #285: Two strong motos from Weltin at Washougal MX Park. Marshal had a rough crash in qualifying that resulted in black eye and bruised knee. He didn’t quit and rode with resiliency and determination both motos to an 11th overall finish going 12-11 in two motos.
“Felt pretty good coming into the weekend,” said Marshall Weltin. “I have been putting work in California… I feel like the tracks are relatable with the acceleration bumps and how things form up. So, I was feeling good coming into the weekends. The bikes were working great. I put in the work went 12-11 for 11th overall. It was a really cool weekend. Overall, really fun day. I’m excited for this two-week break.”
“Mixed day at Washougal,” said team manager, Dustin Pipes. “Marshal had a good day battling for a top 10. Was tough finishing so close with 11th but I like the fight he showed all day. Brandon unfortunately had a tough day with a first corner crash in the first moto. After getting checked out by the medical team he toughed out the second moto which was good to see. He will get looked at further to determine his status for the next event. The bikes worked great all day and the staff worked well together.”
