Team Twisted Tea/H.E.P. Suzuki presented by Progressive Insurance had a tough day at the office for the 10th round of the 2022 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship series this past Saturday at Budds Creek MX park, in Mechanicsville, Maryland. The team was without Brandon Hartranft due to an ankle injury that occurred in a previous round. Marshal Weltin put forth a strong effort but unfortunately found himself in a first corner crash after the start of moto one. He was severely bruised, unable to continue racing, and was forced to call it a day.
Marshal Weltin #285: Not a great round but not for a lack of effort. Marshal got a great jump off the gate first moto but unfortunately crashed in the first corner and was unable to return. He suffered no major injuries but was severely bruised and unable to continue racing. Expect to see him back on the bike at Ironman.
“Tough go at it today,” said Marshal Weltin. “I still struggled in qualifying a little bit. I felt like I was comfortable still and I am really happy with the bike overall. Unfortunately got caught up in pretty bad crash in turn one in the first moto. I got caught up in another riders rear wheel and was not able to stop and slammed really hard. I feel like I’m okay. I just have a lot of big bruises and I am really banged up. I was not able to finish out the day. I’m going to come back next week and hopefully be ready.”
Brandon Hartranft #41: The 24yearold was out for Budds Creek. He missed his only his second round of the entire 2022 season. He continues to heal up from an injury that occurred off the start at the Washougal National. The team is hoping to have Brandon back soon.
“Tough week at the office,” said team manager, Dustin Pipes. “But sometimes that’s how things go. With Brandon again out this past weekend, Marshal tried his best to hold down the fort for the team. Unfortunately, a first corner crash ended his day early, we will regroup again for next weekend.”
