The 2021 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross series had its 9th round this past Saturday at the Budds Creek MX. Max Anstie and Brandon Hartranft both had solid days on the track. Anstie had a pair of top ten motos. Hartranft struggled early due to a hurt shoulder from a practice track crash earlier in the week but recovered to a 12th place finish in the second moto.
Max Anstie (#34) pair of top tens at Budds Creek for Anstie.
Max Anstie (#34) – Two impressive races from Max at Budds Creek. His best race came in the first moto after a strong start, and he ran close to the top throughout most of the race before finishing in 9th place. Anstie carried that momentum into the second moto, despite the rough start he was able climb his way into 10th place.
"Solid day at Budds Creek," said Max Anstie, "10th overall, we want more. I'm happy with the way I rode, and I'm ready to get on with it next week!"
Brandon Hartranft (#28) 12th place in the second moto at Budds Creek.
Brandon Hartranft (#28) – It was a very consistent day at Budds Creek for Hartranft, who had experienced significant gains on the bike in previous rounds. After a rough first moto that saw Brandon climb into 15th after a bad start, he rebounded and got a great start in the second moto. He ran up front for most of the race before falling back into 12th place.
"Not the best day for me," said Brandon Hartranft. "This week wasn't ideal for me; I had a little crash this past week practicing and banged my shoulder up, so that took me a few steps back. I've been making progress every weekend, but this weekend wasn't ideal. I ended up 13th overall, not pumped on it, but as long as I'm here fighting every weekend, that's all that matters. In moto 1, I was 30th place, and I caught back up to 15th; in moto 2, I got a good start and got 12th. It was a learning experience. I'm going to take the positives and improve."
"Another top 10 performance for the team," said Team Manager Dustin Pipes. "I'm glad we were able to string together multiple top 10s, but I feel like we still left some on the table. Still, it was a continued step in the right direction. Max was solid all day, and Brandon rebounded after a poor moto one performance to run at the front most of moto 2. Our starts have been improving, and once both athletes figure out their sprint speed the first few laps, we will reach the next level."
