The 2021 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross series returned to action this past Saturday at High Point MX in Mt. Morris, Pennsylvania. The event didn't disappoint an untiring crowd that packed the fence line from qualifying to the final lap. Twisted Tea was on site handing out swag wear to all the fans. Max Anstie and Brandon Hartranft both fought hard, having to overcome difficult starts in both motos to finish in 15th & 16th place overall.
Max Anstie (#34) attacks the track on his RM-Z450 Suzuki.
Max Anstie (#34) – Spectacular start in the first moto that saw Max fully pinned outside around the first corner inside the top ten but an untimely mistake caused Max to fall back to last. Anstie didn't quit and fought his way up to 18th place. Max had a steady second moto with a strong start, and he finished in 14th place. Going 18-14 in both his motos, Max finished 15th overall.
"We had an eventful day at Highpoint MX," said Max Anstie. "First moto didn't go as planned. I got a good start. I was up there, but a mistake forced me to fall way back. I was able to come back to 18th place. In the second moto, I got a bit better start, and I was in about 14th-15th place the whole race. It wasn't too bad, but I want to keep making progress. I'm glad we get a couple of weeks to keep stepping up."
Brandon Hartranft (#28) pushes himself on his RM-Z 450 Suzuki .
Brandon Hartranft (#28) – Season-best result for the 450cc premier class rookie. He was having another intense round of qualifying with 13th place for the second consecutive round. Brandon raced very determined; in the first moto he finished in 15th place, but a bad start prevented him from finishing higher. He fought his way up from the last place. The next moto Hartranft got a better jump off the gate, raced very consistently, pushing himself to 17th place. He finished 15-17 in both his motos for 16th place overall.
"Way better day for me this round," said Brand Hartranft. "Qualified 13th today. I do better on these East coast tracks a little bit more. I messed up this first moto on the gate drop, and I had to fight my way from 36th all the way to 15th place. In the second moto I raced hard, and I pushed myself finished to 17th place. I felt good all day fitness-wise, definitely some big steps in the right direction. I'm looking forward to the rest of the season, these two weeks off, and to keep on digging."
"Tough weekend for the team," said Team Manager Dustin Pipes. "We aren't where we want to be results-wise, but the guys have been putting in a lot of testing hours, so we are hoping for a quick turnaround. Brandon had his best day so far, going from last to 15th in the first moto, while running top ten in lap times. Max dealt with a fall and had to come from the back in the 30's as well. One of the guys should take home the RC Hard Charger award for a little consolation. The next two tracks both play to our rider's strengths so well be doing everything to fire on all cylinders."
The 2021 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Series returns to action in two weeks at RedBud MX in Buchanan, Michigan. The event will be sponsored by Twisted Tea. You can expect to see the momentum pour-over from these past two rounds with Max Anstie and Brandon Hartranft as they continue to get better results.
