Team Twisted Tea/H.E.P. Motorsports, presented by Progressive Insurance, made progress at round 3 of the 2022 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Outdoor Nationals in Lakewood, Colorado, this past Saturday. The team welcomed the new addition of Marshal Weltin, whose coming along for the remainder of the Outdoor Nationals. Brandon Hartranft #41: Consistent day for Brandon Hartranft on his RM-Z450 Suzuki, going 14-14 for 14th overall. Despite struggling off the gate, the 24-year-old New Jersey native did quick work with the field moving into the top 20, eventually finishing in 14th place in both motos.
"Solid day at round 3," said Brandon Hartranft. "First moto battled with my teammate the entire moto he was riding really good, I finished 14th. In the second moto, I had a terrible start. I came from far back to 13th, but I got passed with 5 minutes to go. Not happy with the result, but I made some progress. I struggled the first two rounds, and this past weekend felt like my first round in a way. I have a lot to improve on. I'm happy with how the day went. We'll keep fighting, and hopefully, we can squeeze into the top ten."
Marshal Weltin #285: Personal best for Marshal Weltin in his first race on his RM-Z450 Suzuki. Didn’t take long for the 26-year-old Michigan native to adjust to the race bike. Weltin looked good all day, going 15-13 for 13th overall.
“First round with the team,” said Marshal Weltin. “Really grateful for the opportunity they presented me. I have been on my own for a while, so it’s a breath of fresh air joining the team. It feels like a weight off my shoulder to be a part of the program and showcase what I can do this summer. Overall, this weekend went pretty well for me; I was comfortable jumping on the bike right away. I’m happy with the results, we definitely want to keep building and want more, but I think it’s a good platform to start.”
“Step in the right direction,” said team manager Dustin Pipes. “We welcomed a new rider with Marshal Weltin, who plugged in seamlessly, achieving his best overall finish with only a few days with the team. As he gets more situated with the bike and personal, I expect him to only keep improving. Brandon had a better day as well but starts held him back. The riding was good, but you can’t start outside the top 30 with this field. We are eager for Highpoint.”
