Brandon Hartranft (#28) matches his best finish in his rookie season.

The 2021 Monster Energy AMA Supercross series had its second round in Indianapolis this past weekend. 450 class rookie, Brandon Hartranft, continues to improve with his racing, almost getting the hole shots every time he lines up to the gate. Enticknap continues to show he belongs in the main event with his strong lap times and fast starts. Max Anstie is still out due to an injury he suffered prior to the first round, but is expected to make his debut back to Supercross in Orlando.

Brandon Hartranft (#28) – In only his 5th race in the big bike class, Hartranft continues to show he is a top competitor, getting near hole shots every time he lines up at the gate, along with having fast lap times late in the moto. In his heat race, Brandon got a great start and was in a transfer position until he came together with a track marker in a corner and got stuck between the bike, which forced him to race the LCQ. In the LCQ, Brandon got another great start locking down a transfer position quickly, which he maintained despite dealing with a small bike problem that occurred during the race. In the main event, with the problem fixed, Brandon got a great jump off the outside gate and went into the corner into the top 3, but wasn’t able to avoid the first corner carnage. He was pushed back to the mid pack and again a few corners later, came together with another rider dropping him back to 20th. As the race ensued Brandon fought his way up to 17th place.

“Track was pretty good, the dirt was soft and there were some really big jumps,” said Brandon Hartranft. “I think I’m starting to come around and ride the 450 a lot better getting used to the pace. I’m linking the RM-Z a lot. In the heat race I had a good start and I made a few mistakes. I caught a tough block and I got stuck. I had to go to the LCQ and I pulled another good start and then I just tried to maintain it. In the main event I went into the first turn really good, but in the first lap I got bumped by another rider. This forced me to roll a jump that dropped me back, but I rode consistent laps and I’m excited to build off this.”

Adam Enticknap (#722) turns to finish out an impressive qualifying session.

Adam Enticknap (#722) – The fan favorite, “Seven-Deuce-Deuce”, continues to show that he belongs in the main event with fast lap times and aggressive riding. In his heat race Adam didn’t get the start he needed to put himself in a transfer position and was only able to work his was up to 11th. In the LCQ, Adam got a good start and was passing for a transfer position before being bumped by another rider, forcing him off the track and putting a transfer position out of reach.

“I think we found something good with bike last round and it rolled over to today,” said Adam Enticknap. “I struggled in one section today, but with my crew behind me, I was able to overcome it. I felt good in my heat, but I didn’t quite get the start I needed to put myself in transfer position and finished in 11th. In the LCQ, I got a good start and was passing for a transfer position when I got bumped by another rider, which ended my chances of making the main. Going forward I know what I got to do to not be in this situation and I’m looking forward to the final round here in Indy.”

"The track looked good today, the track had good traction and a lot of ruts.” said Team Manager Dustin Pipes. “As far as racing goes I think we did okay. Adam needs to put himself in better position. It’s tough to see him miss a main, especially when he is a main event guy. I was very happy with Brandon. His heat race didn’t quite go the way we wanted. He had a fall while in transfer position which sent him to the LCQ. In the LCQ we dealt with a little bike part problem that we were able to fix before the main event. I think he rode good in the main. He has some things he needs to improve on, but I think it was a solid race to build on. I’m excited to see what these guys can do next round with a little break!”

H.E.P. Motorsports prepares for its final race in Indianapolis this Saturday for the 6th round of the 2021 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series. Expect to see Enticknap back on track in the main event and for Hartranft to continue to get better as his rookie season goes on in the 450cc class.
